Jessy is a Family Nurse Practitioner, providing full scope primary care to the Living Health clinic clientele alongside Corey, since our doors first opened.
She started her career as a nurse working with a pediatric population at BC Children’s Hospital. While she loved working with kids with acute and chronic conditions such as renal, metabolic and biochemical disorders, she decided that she needed to diversify her knowledge by working with a population across the life span. She sought for a position that would allow her to work more autonomously and independently with a broader population base, focusing on wellness in addition to illness, and allow her to continue fostering her passion within nursing.
Jessy received her MSN from the University of British Columbia in 2010, and certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner with the BCCNP (British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals).
Her early years in practice included teaching within various nursing programs in the lower mainland. She has also had the opportunity to expand her knowledge in women’s health with experience at a lower mainland breast health centre, and has worked with the frail elderly in a multidisciplinary unit planning for complex discharge planning. Her current passions in primary care involve working with young families, focusing on wellness and preventative health care.
When she isn’t hard at work, Jessy’s current hobbies include providing part time taxi services to her young children. She enjoys playing hockey, soccer, badminton, lacrosse, or essentially any other activity that keeps the young ones entertained. When she’s not reading medical journals, she enjoys reading the literary work of Dave Pilkey, in the popular series of Captain Underpants.
